Nani Marquina and Ricard Ferrer

Nani Marquina was born in Barcelona in 1952. She studied industrial design at the Massana School in Barcelona and in 1974, after a collaboration with the Selles-Marquina Architecture Studio, she opened her own shop, Self-Décor, where she carried out interior decoration projects. In 1984 she presented her first designs in prints and rugs for different textile design companies and, the same year, received a nomination at the Delta Awards for industrial design for the Dama rug. She created the Nanimarquina brand in 1986, specialised in the design and edition of textile articles for the home, placing a particular focus on rug designs. In 1990 the Pera collection received a nomination at the Delta Awards. Her design pieces are included in a number of diverse collective design exhibitions, some of which include; Primavera del Disseny (International Design Festival Barcelona) and Women Made (Women in Design). In 2002, she reassumed management of the commercial distribution of her brand and in 2003 Nanimarquina obtained the IDQ award for product quality. In 2004 the Topissimo collection won the Good Design award from the Chicago Atheneum Museum.

Ricard Ferrer was born in Barcelona in 1968 and has been an industrial designer since 1992. He is a specialist in furnishing, lighting, sanitation and bathroom accessory projects and some of his main clients are Cosmic, Bath Time, Metalarte, Roca, Matias Guarro, Andreu World, Joquer and Sancal. His products were nominated for the ADI-FAD Awards in 1995 and 1997, he was awarded first prize in the Expohogar Design Competition in 2001 and 2003, runner up in the Feria de Valencia Competition in 1997 and was a finalist in the Cetem Furniture Design Competition in 2002. Ricard teaches undergraduate courses and Technical Engineering in Industrial Design at the Elisiva School of Advanced Design in Barcelona.
