Sellex was founded in San Sebastián Spain in 1977 and soon became known for manufacturing modern Scandinavian design with the Swedish trademark “Innovator” whose products have become Modern Design Classics.
Besides producing the Innovator collection, Sellex introduced and established in the Spanish market the distribution of the internationally recognized prestige Scandinavian companies like Fritz Hansen, Nelo, Inno, and Hyllinge. This aspect of the Sellex business was accompanied by the creation of their own range of products in collaboration with the most relevant Spanish designers at that time.
In 1984 Sellex became an active member in the constitution of the Design company SIDI which promotes Spanish design and manufacturing in contemporary furniture up until today. Sellex has obtained a number of design prizes and awards for its work; two first prizes at the Valencia Fair Design Competition, a first Selection SIDI (and several nominations), Honourable Mentions for ADI-FAD, and in 2003 the Delta de Oro for the Aero Bench, designed by Lievore, Altherr, and Molina.
Sellex has become renowned for its success in the contract market with beautiful product designed for public areas usage such as universities, hospitals, hotels and airports, both in Spain and abroad and Sellex’s products are now being distributed in more than 30 countries around the world.
