Giacomo Passal

Giacomo Passal is reluctant to see themes in his work and prefers modestly to describe himself as a designer and craftsman. He rarely talks to journalists and his incredible versatility as designer, model maker, art director, television producer, businessman, actor and archaeologist gives the media fits in trying to classify him. The key to understanding him may remain with his Japanese psychologist wife, Miuki, as she alone can produce the kind of functional surrealism that Giacomo can relate to. His futuristic visions of mankind and design are humanized and accessible through his creations in basic furniture for everyday use. His most abstract visions rarely turn into production models due to the limited understanding of his concepts by specialist manufacturers.
