LZF -Lamps is a Spanish lighting company formed in 1994 as a collaboration between artist and designer Marivi Calvo and marketer, muso and raconteur Sandro Tothill, who realised the concept of creating environments and objects from the back illumination of wooden veneers. Since its inception, LZF has gone on to show in various art and furniture fairs around the world and has developed its handmade manufacturing techniques and collaboration with renowned designers to become a celebrated company worldwide with not only functional but sculpturally beautiful product. Through the utilisation of timber veneers, polypropelyne and paper parchment in varying textures, colours and translucence, LZF-Lamps invoke architectural forms through the use of light and shadow, design and structure. They have decorated the homes of painters, musicians, lawyers, and given ambience to C17th palaces, hotels, restaurants and showrooms, to name just a few. The Cactus and Mikado lamps by Miguel Herranz and the Link by Ray Power provide playful organic and sensual forms while the Icon, X Club and I Club by Burkhard Dammer are clear and sober. All veneers used in the LZF product are forested under environmentally sustainable guidelines. www.lzf-lamps.com
